Xinhua News Agency, Nanchang, November 29th After a 166-hour intensive rescue, an expert group on the rescue of the flooding accident at the Beiqu Coal Mine in Xicun Town, Yuanzhou District, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, determined that the seven trapped people in the underground had no survival. The rescue headquarters decided to suspend drainage.

 

  According to Chen Zhijun, deputy head of Yuanzhou District, the on-site rescue team concluded that the underground personnel were trapped at an elevation of -104 meters or an elevation of -155.7 meters, and the submerged water level was as high as +95.2 meters, which is equivalent to the trapped personnel. The location is subjected to a water pressure of 20 or 25 atmospheres. Under such conditions, even if there is an air column in the well, the trapped person has no survival condition.

 

  From 22:45 on November 23, the drainage began. As of 21:30 on the 29th, the total drainage of the permeable coal mine was more than 80,000 cubic meters, equivalent to more than three times the volume of the mine, but the underground water level dropped to +75.9 meters. No significant change. According to the analysis of the expert group, due to the large amount of water permeate in the mine and the abundant supply of limestone water in the Maokou Formation, the continuous drainage is continued under the condition that the permeable passage is not blocked, and it is impossible to drain the water in the mine and may induce secondary geological disasters.

 

  In view of the above reasons, according to the opinions of the expert group, the rescue headquarters decided to suspend drainage, speed up ground geophysical exploration and drilling work, find and block the permeable passage, and determine the next drainage search plan according to the progress of exploration and closure.
